Subtituting Power Adapter/Supply - Range?
Question:
I have a transceiver that requires an adapter with the following specs:
INPUT: 115VAC 60Hz 30W
OUTPUT: 12VAC 1.25A
If I look around the house to find an adapter that might work, which numbers are the most important in terms of accuracy? Which numbers to I have a bit of give for? How much give and which way (higher or lower)?
Please be thorough, I know little to nothing about electricity. I don't want to ruin the transceiver. But I know it's totally possible and don't want to have to purchase one at Radio Shack.

What If I can find a 12 volt 1.25A power supply but the wattage is say 12W or 20W?
Answer:
The simple answer is to look for another adapter that supplies close to 12VAC (maybe 11-13VAC) and AT LEAST 1.25A (amps). More amps is OK. More or less volts is not good.
