Maxtor 500GB OneTouch External Hard Drive Won't Power On?
Question:
In the middle of the summer, I purchased a Maxtor 500GB OneTouch external hard drive and migrated all my data to it. This hard drive is now the only place most of this data is stored. However, as of last night, the hard drive will not power on.
I hadn't used the hard drive for quite a while, and it was unplugged for probably a month or so. Just recently I plugged it back in again, and it turned on fine. Now when I plug it in I get no response. I changed nothing, so I don't know what's going on.
Any advice on what to do? Could it have already burnt out? If so, is the data recoverable?

Did it overheat, or what? Way back when I used Seagate Externals, I had a similar problem...but it was related to the interface...so I cracked the case and just installed the drive as internal drive (nice 7200.10s).
Data retrieval costs a pretty good dollar. Sorry...but warranties don't cover lost data either.
