Why will my computer not start after switching out an IDE drive for an SATA?
Question:
I recently switched out my old IDE dvd drive for an SATA drive. I already have an SATA hard drive. After switching out the drives, my computer will not start properly. When I power on now, nothing comes on screen and the HDD light does not come on at all. I already reset the CMOS, but that didn't work. Does anyone know what I might have done wrong? Thanks!
Answer:
You have to change the boot order. You are probably trying to boot from the wrong drive. Go back into the BIOS and check under 'boot priority' or 'boot order' in the advanced BIOS properties. YMMV. To b sure, check your system's documentation,(RTFM).
