Will a AMD-K7 Processor ~690 mhz support a WD caviar 120gb hard disc?

Every time i format my 120gig hard drive it fails at 20% saying "setup was unable to format the partition. the disk may be damaged." Can someone please tell me if the above CPU and hard drive are compatible? thanks.

I also used the data lifeguard hard drive setup & it was fine but when i try to format with windows xp it always stops at 20%.
Answer:
The CPU and hard drive combination should not make any difference. It sounds like setup is correct in stating that the disk may be damaged. If its new, take it back to the store for a replacement. If its old... time to cough up some cash to replace the bugger.
