Saw a guy take a little chassis container with usb hookup to retrieve data from a notebook computer hardrive?
Question:
I was curious.. I have a 40 gig harddrive that is ntfs and I want to hook it up via usb connection as an additional drive on my notebook computer for storage.I saw a guy do this with a notebook hard drive..Used the little aluminum case and slid the notebook hard drive down inside it had a usb plug on it and then snap the top on the case and plugged it into his other notebook and then retrieved the data like an external drive.I was curious do they make this for anything other than notebook drives ,like desktop system drives and where would you buy it .Thanks for any help in advance..

The same only more so: I have both 3.5in and 2.5in USB enclosures and can personally guarantee that the 3.5in drives are more reliable mostly due to the fact that they're designed to draw power from an wall outlet.
2.5in USB drives are generally designed to be more portable so they have one connector for USB and one for power (or worse). No matter how the packaging is marked, you need both USB and power connected in order to make 2.5in drives work reliably.
